Gamma Flip Point for BTC and ETH

The Gamma Flip Point is the price where aggregate GEX changes sign from positive to negative. Above it markets are usually calmer, below it more volatile.

What is the Gamma Flip

The Gamma Flip Point (zero-gamma level) is the price at which market makers’ aggregate gamma exposure (GEX) crosses from positive to negative. It is one of the key anchor points of the entire GEX map.

The Gamma Flip splits the chart into two regimes: above it positive GEX dominates (low volatility, ranging), below it negative GEX dominates (high volatility, impulsive moves and breakouts).

Why the Gamma Flip matters for BTC and ETH

While BTC or ETH trades above the Gamma Flip, market-maker hedging suppresses swings and dips are typically bought. Once price breaks below the Gamma Flip, hedging starts to amplify moves — drawdowns accelerate and cascade risk rises.

Many traders therefore use the Gamma Flip as a regime switch: mean-reversion strategies above it, trend and breakout strategies below it.

How to find the Gamma Flip level

The Gamma Flip is derived from the GEX profile across all strikes: it is the price where cumulative GEX reaches zero. In Crypto Metrics Pro the Gamma Flip Point is computed automatically from Deribit options data for BTC and ETH and marked directly on the GEX Terminal chart.
